September ushers in the grape harvest in Italy

When gnarled grape vines hang heavy with clusters of plump fruit, it’s time to harvest in Tuscany. The harvest, which typically occurs around mid-September depending on how hot the summer’s been, is completed by picking the grapes by hand or using a machine to mechanically cull the fruit from the vines. And then the uva begin their arduous transformation into wine.
